Tubing and Kneeboard Guidelines

1)    You must always have a spotter in the boat in addition to the driver.
2)    Always read the warning and safety information provided with the tube
or kneeboard.
3)    No matter what the age ALL persons (regardless of age) MUST wear an
approved life jacket.
4)    Ensure the tube is securely attached to the tow rope, and the
tow rope is securely attached to the boat.
5)    Before you leave, ensure that all persons on the boat and in the tube
have hand signals for speeding up, slowing down, and stopping. As all people have different comfort levels on the water, if there is more than one person on the tube, always take the signal of the youngest or most inexperienced or frightened tuber. That means if one person wants to speed up and one wants to slow down, always slow down so as not to frighten an individual and spoil their tubing experience.
6)    When starting off, being by slowly applying speed to the boat until
all person being towed are comfortable with the speed.  Also slowly starting off ensure that the tow rope does not accidentally get caught up in a persons leg or on the propeller of the boat.
7)    Be constantly aware of oncoming traffic.  Never zigzag zag your boat when
someone else is either approaching or overtaking you.  Always listen to your spotter as to what they see with the people being towed. An oncoming boat may not see your tube and think you are a reckless driver.
8)    When driving over a wake, slow the speed of your boat, especially if
the tuber is lying stomach down on the tube or is not holding onto any safety straps.  Too much bouncing could cause back injury.
9)    When stopping or changing people in the tube, ALWAYS stop the engine.
Ensure that no one is in the water near the boat when the engine is going, even if the boat is in neutral.
10)   Here are some suggested speeds for riders

Age Miles per Hour of Boat
5 - 11 8 - 10
9 - 14 10 - 15
13 - 16 13 - 20
16 - 30 15- 25

Each person will have their own comfort speed These are simply suggested speeds, and each person will have their own comfort level. SunWave Boat Rentals accepts no liability in case of injury.
11)   Tubing/kneeboarding is very tiring on a person, and frequent rest times
are advised , as well as ensuring a person has water and liquids available to them to ensure they don't dehydrate.
12)    When you are finished tubing, secure the tube on the boat and tie the tow rope in the boat.
